Blue Bloods season 9: Where are the stories for the kids, Henry?

Blue Bloods season 9

One of the things that we’ve come to learn over the years about Blue Bloods is that it really is a balancing act trying to incorporate every single character who should be a part of the series. There are a lot of different people who really should be attended to, and sometimes, characters can be lost in the shuffle here and there.

For the latest example of this very thing, just look at the state of things when it comes to the Reagan kids. Early on last season, it felt like both Jack and Sean were fairly prominently featured as Danny and his sons had to cope with Linda’s death. Meanwhile, Nicky had a couple of notable episodes around the midway point of the season, including one where she found herself the subject of workplace harassment.

Yet, this season everything’s been fairly quiet for the kids so far, much as it has also been for their own great-grandfather in Henry Reagan. Will that change in the near future?

Well, when it comes to Jack and Sean, we know that there is a big storyline coming on Friday where we are going to have a chance to see Eddie step in and try to resolve a conflict between Danny’s two boys. As to why it’s her who gets involved, that remains to be seen — but it does feel like this is going to be the boys’ biggest story that we’ve seen in a little while.

As for Nicky and Henry, the jury is still out, as we haven’t seen too much in particular for the two in the immediate future. We do think, however, that something will be coming; there does tend to be at least one or two episodes per season where the two get a storyline outside the Reagan family dinner, and we have to assume that this is going to be the case again. They’ve got a challenge with so many other characters; one of the best things that they can hope for is that they become involved with some of the stories for the main, point-of-view characters. Maybe Nicky knows someone who is a key witness in one of Danny’s cases, or maybe Henry’s knowledge of NYPD’s past ends up becoming useful for a problem Frank is trying to solve.
