Elseworlds spoilers: John Wesley Shipp returning — in familiar Flash costume

ElseworldsJust in case you weren’t excited enough about Elseworldshere you go — John Wesley Shipp in a very familiar costume!

The images below via Marc Guggenheim and Stephen Amell give you a sense of Shipp in a costume that is very similar to the one that he wore in his own version of The Flash decades ago! This is a kick right in the nostalgic feels for a lot of people out there, and the funny thing is that there was some comic-book groundwork set for this many years ago! Do you remember when we saw a tiny glimpse of classic Flash at the end of the season 1 The Flash finale? Well, that’s apparently paying off now in a really creative way.

Of course, one of the reasons why all of this is especially interesting at the moment is because in Amell’s photo, he is actually The Flash while Grant Gustin is playing the Green Arrow. This Elseworlds story is causing them to swap out costumes and there’s something really fun that comes along with that. (For now, Melissa Benoist seems to actually be playing Supergirl; whether or not there’s a further twist with that remains to be seen.)

Are there some more surprises that are going to be coming up in Elseworlds? That remains to be seen, but we do absolutely remain in awe of the fact that we’re continuing to see so many different things announced about this. Just remember that Batwoman is also a big part of this and other than an official photo of the character in costume, not too much else has been announced about her just yet. That may be something we have to wait a little bit longer for. After all, Elseworlds is currently slated to premiere at some point in December.
