SWAT season 2 spoilers: Debbie Allen set to play Hondo’s mom!
The upcoming November 1 episode entitled “Never Again” is going to be featuring an appearance from the Grey’s Anatomy actress (among many other things) as Hondo’s mother Charice. She’s a force of nature, but also someone there to support her son. You can see a brief clip of her courtesy of Shemar Moore below from his recent appearance on The Talk. This is going to prove exciting, since there should be some great opportunities coming up to see how this relationship defines Hondo’s life.
As for more information on the actual circumstances of her appearance, take a look at the synopsis below:
“Never Again” – The SWAT team tries to determine the next diamond dealer to be robbed by a group of highly organized thieves executing heists across downtown Los Angeles. When Hondo is emotionally affected by a suspect’s death during the case, he seeks comfort from his mother, Charice (Debbie Allen). Also, while Street worries that Luca, his SWAT training academy instructor, has a personal vendetta against him, Chris contemplates an unorthodox relationship offer from the new woman she’s dating, on S.W.A.T., Thursday, Nov. 1 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
According to a report from TVLine, the new woman Chris is with will be played by Grimm alum Claire Coffee, and the big twist here is that she is in a polyamorous relationship. Chris has an invitation to join, but he has to figure out whether or not that is something he is open to. (Consider this CBS certainly getting a little more open to different views and perspectives.) This episode is a good way for the series to kick off November sweeps, and it makes Thursdays all the busier for Allen given that she appears on Grey’s Anatomy on a fairly regular basis. (She also serves as an executive producer on that series.)
