Blue Bloods season 9 episode 4 video: Eddie’s undercover assignment & conflict
While dining out together as an engaged couple, Jamie decides in the sneak peek to bring up an undercover case that Eddie wants to work. Basically, there’s a creep who has been doing terrible things to women at night, and she has an opportunity now to put a stop to it. She fits the profile of the sort of women he goes after, and this is a chance for her to put a stop to some of it so that women in the future don’t get hurt.
On paper, Eddie is absolutely right about every single thing that she says here. She totally is the right person to try and do something about the terrible stuff that is happening on the streets. Yet, Jamie is both her fiance and her Sergeant, and he doesn’t want her to do it. Understandably, he doesn’t want anything to happen to her. He’s letting his own feelings towards her cloud what is technically her job. He isn’t ordering her per se to shy away from the operation, but he certainly is doing her part to discourage it.
Well, because it’s not an order, it does feel like Eddie’s going to go ahead and do some of what she wants to here and Jamie’s not going to have a whole lot of say in the matter. It’s easy to understand both points of view here; hopefully, Eddie will end up being fine if she goes through with the mission and Jamie will learn to understand that his fiancee knows what she’s doing and he doesn’t have to go into overdrive in order to interfere. She’s good at her job and she almost certainly will have backup. These are just two people who are still trying to understand what the parameters of their relationship now are.
