Blue Bloods season 9 episode 4 photo: How Frank handles the blackout

Blue Bloods season 9

Blue Bloods season 9 episode 4 is going to be coming onto CBS this Friday, and all signs point towards “Blackout” being a very different sort of crisis for Frank Reagan.

For the smallest bit of evidence, you really don’t have to look any further than the photo! This image features Tom Selleck’s character alongside Garrett and many of his key advisers as they try to deal with a widespread power outage that is engulfing the city. While in some professions a blackout means you can take the rest of the day off, that’s not exactly the case here. Instead, what it effectively means is that Frank and the rest of the NYPD have to be even more on board. They have to stay in constant communication, given that everyone is suddenly in more danger. Having no power, for some, equals having no order, and that could be a reason for some in the city to start running amok and causing problems.

Frank is going to have to play defense using NYPD resources — though some others within the department may go more on the offensive in order to ensure that they can stop justice their own way. This includes Eddie in this episode, as she’s going to be taken a pretty-significant risk that could cause some tension between her and Jamie.

Basically, being in the dark is going to cause many of these characters to rethink their thinking a little bit. It just remains to be seen to what extent that will be and how long this blackout lasts. More than likely, it will be over by the end of this episode … but there’s a lot that can happen within just 40-42 minutes of television! That means there could be a few more surprises sprinkled in over the course of the hour.
