Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 4 is airing on CBS on Friday night, and based on what we’re seeing in the promo, it could be disturbing. How else do you describe an episode that starts with the discovery of severed feet in the water? (We do love Grover’s use of the word “afoot” in the promo, though.)
This promo makes it clear that these feet are attached to a double-homicide, one that could lead Steve and Danny down a road that they were not expecting to go down. Let’s just say that this could involve a hidden black market for sand, something that we know absolutely nothing about but it’s surely out there somewhere. After all, it feels like Hawaii produces high-quality sand like nobody’s business and there are plenty of people elsewhere who could want a piece of a pie … but enough to kill for it? That’s what makes this case a little bit more of a mystery, given that the motives for this murder are questionable.
Apparently, though, this is a case with a high sense of urgency — so much so that McGarrett’s going to put his own life in jeopardy during the pursuit of justice. While we’re certainly familiar with this concept with Steve out in the field, this is a reminder to us that Danny’s never too thrilled about it. He doesn’t want to lose a partner; also, we’re pretty sure that he also doesn’t want to die himself.
As for what else we are currently anticipating from this episode, there will be an emotional sideplot revolving around Junior and a body of a fallen soldier returning home to Hawaii. It’s hard to gauge its long-term impact, but it could be a change of pace for Junior after seeing something a little bit more comedic on this past episode with himself and Tani at the center of it.
