Ratings: Blindspot season 4 starts slow; MacGyver, Last Man Standing rise
Friday night’s premiere episode managed to draw overall just a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is down about 30% from where season 3 first kicked off in this timeslot. That doesn’t exactly scream confidence for the show’s future, though we know that the series does have a rather-loyal audience of people who enjoy watching it on a fairly regular basis.
It’s a little too early to official write the series off one way or another, mostly because we are just a single week into the season and there is absolutely plenty of time in the future to take a longer look at all of this. Still, it’s worth noting where the series is starting off.
As for some other ratings news…
MacGyver fares well this week – With a 0.8 rating, the CBS show performed better than its most-recent outing. Not only that, but it tied both Hawaii Five-0 and also Blue Bloods a little later on in the night. It’s nice to see that the show is basically now on par with some of the others, given that this could make it all the more stable as we move forward into the future. Last Man Standing still wins – Last night’s episode 3 ended up generating a 1.4 rating in the demo, which is a slight increase from the week before. We think this is probably around where the series will live for the rest of the year, which means that the odds of there being a season 8 down the line are probably pretty high.
Not-so-crazy start for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – With just a 0.1 rating for Friday night’s premiere, it’s all the clearer that the series was mostly kept around thanks to 1) positive reviews and 2) a small-but-loyal following. We’re still grateful that The CW gave this show a proper ending, even if it is not performing altogether well commercially in the process.
