MacGyver season 3: Is Kate Bond leaving; is Jill dead?
At the end of this past episode, it felt pretty clear that something terrible had happened to Jill. Yet, we got confirmation at the start of this episode that she was in fact gone. Murdoc killed her as the jumping-off point to what is going to be an exciting story to come.

In many ways, we do think that the exit of Kate Bond’s character is one that was done here out of story necessity. The MacGyver writers needed to figure out a good way in which to ensure that MacGyver would join the Phoenix Foundation again; the idea of the team losing their one of their own, mostly because of one of his greatest foes, was enough for him to do that. It’s causing him to reevaluate things because he does care a lot about these people.
So while Mac is in fact back, it’s coming with a catch: He wants full access to all available resources as a means in order to ensure that he can take down the foe once and for all.
We are going to miss Jill on this show, though, given that she is one of those characters who this series could have spent a lot more time developing if the opportunity was there. She was one of the unsung heroes of the Phoenix and while she never got to head too far out there in the field, she did have a number of entertaining moments and popped when she was on-screen. We’ll just have to wait and see now precisely what the future holds for her.
Ultimately, Jill is not the only character to suffer due to Murdoc — he also shot Samantha Cage in season 2, who eventually disappeared off the map for the show entirely. It doesn’t see as though there are any plans for Isabel Lucas to return.
