Chicago PD season 6 episode 3 preview: Can Voight, Platt exonerate Olinsky?

Moving into Chicago PD season 6 episode 3 airing on NBC in one week, the series is going to try to turn the page. Yet, it’s also hard to imagine that the story of Jay Halstead’s father will disappear. This is the sort of thing that will stick with him, and it is certainly going to stick with viewers. It’s hard for it not to when you have an actor like Jesse Lee Soffer who came out here and gave the performance of his life.

So how will the NBC series move forward? Well, a big part of it is going to be focusing on Olinsky and the aftermath of his death. This wasn’t prominent in the crossover, but there is more story to tell here. Voight wants to ensure that his legacy is properly withheld, and Platt is right there with him. These two characters are going to be essential next week, as will the politics that were a part of the premiere.

10/10/2018 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Wednesday) : Politics get in the way as the team tries to rescue a teenage girl kidnapped by a robbery crew. Voight (Jason Beghe) and Platt (Amy Morton) try to exonerate Olinsky.

One thing to remember here is that one of the conditions of Voight’s reinstatement was that he work on some cases with political motivations — it’s a way to spin narratives and while there is justice, it’s of a different sort than he is used to. Is this an arrangement that will really last? That’s a hard thing to figure out, but for now, it is absolutely clear that Voight will be suffering through it for a while.
