Criminal Minds season 14 will be slightly more concentrated in storytelling
Is it possible that there are going to be more than 15 episodes for this upcoming season? It certainly is, but for now, this is all we have. With that in mind, the writers have to find a way to make the most of the time that they have, and this means working hard to tell more stories that are personal, meaningful, and different than any that you have seen on the series to date. It’s also going to have to move fast.

Speaking in a new interview with TVInsider, executive producer Erica Messer set up what lies ahead when it comes to the story, and some of the twists that lie ahead:
I feel like it’s a season of reflection. Not just the show itself reflecting on its history but our characters. [They’re] having some struggles and looking into their past and their behaviors and really learning and growing from them. And we’re making an effort to do that with every character this year, which isn’t something we always get the chance to do.
I think with a 15-episode order we’ve really focused — we can do more in less time. It sounds weird but you can. The storytelling is different; it’s more concentrated and sometimes more intense.
We’re all for a more intense variation of Criminal Minds, which makes a good bit of sense given that this is a show that has basically made a living for years out of finding a way to make its hair stand on end.
