Is Elementary new tonight on CBS? What we know to date
Unfortunately, we’re not going to be getting to see Sherlock and Joan on our TV’s tonight — or the rest of the fall, for that matter. Production is currently underway on the seventh season, but at the moment, there is no indication that it’s going to premiere anytime soon. As a matter of fact, we would be shocked if it comes on the air before spring. CBS seems to have much of its preliminary schedule set through at least early next year, and we don’t see Jonny Lee Miller or Lucy Liu being a part of it for the immediate future unless there are some cancellations elsewhere or the network really wants to mix things up.

So what do we know at the moment about season 7? The biggest thing is that it will be starting off in London, and should feature some opportunities to show a new phase in Sherlock and Joan’s life. There is no specific episode order announced publicly just yet, but you will still get a chance to see Gregson and Bell — just because these characters are located in New York does not mean that they are gone from the show. The New York setting does enable Elementary to bring back some more characters who are based there, but they have not announced any casting at the moment.
As for whether or not season 7 ends up being the last one for the show, at the moment there is no clear indication. We want to remain hopeful that there could be a season 8, but we imagine that the writers are going to come up with a satisfying ending regardless. This is one of the reasons why season 6 ended like it did — there was an interest in creating a satisfying ending no matter what happened.
