The Flash season 5 episode 1 spoilers: Full details on ‘Nora’

Nora West-Allen

Want to know what lies ahead on The Flash season 5 episode 1? Today, The CW shared some of the first details on “Nora,” an installment that almost speaks for itself. The premiere episode (airing next month) will serve to better understand what happened that caused Nora West-Allen to travel back to the past in order to get help from the younger versions of her parents. She knows that she screwed something up, and this is one of the only ways to fix it. Ironically, her screwing something up has led to her screwing something else up: The timeline, since it’s not exactly like Barry and Iris were meant to learn about their daughter right now.

Before we get too far down the rabbit hole of theorizing about various things, CarterMatt wants to share the official The Flash season 5 episode 1 synopsis:

GETTING RID OF EXCESS – After an unexpected guest from the future, Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy), appears at their home, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton,) must figure out how to get her back to the future without disrupting the timeline… even more than she already has. Team Flash must work together to send Nora back, while simultaneously fighting off another villainous meta. David McWhirter directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Sam Chalsen (#501).

We’ve heard a number of interesting theories about why Nora is back in the past, but one of the most interesting ones to us is that she did something that caused Barry to die in her present-day timeline, which would explain why she would need to go back in time given that he would theoretically be there in order to help in the present. Maybe there’s tension between her and Iris in the future about it, which would explain the chilly reception that she gives Iris in the premiere — even though Iris won’t quite know why.

Expect this episode to be emotional at times, but it’s still The Flash — we don’t think that it’s going to be all that different.
