Grey’s Anatomy season 15: What will Meredith’s dating life look like?
In a promo that is out there already, you can see Ellen Pompeo’s character (seemingly) hooking up with Alex DeLuca. Is it possible that this was a dream? Sure, but it’s also equally possible that this is a one-time thing. After all, I know that Meredith is going to be diving more into the dating pool this year, and the priority does not appear to be trying to lock Meredith down into any sort of long-term relationship just yet.
Instead, there’s a definite interest from the writers in figuring out a way to show through Meredith some of the challenges that come courtesy of being a widowed woman stepping out and re-entering the dating world after a long time. Not everything with it is going to be easy, and that’s something that executive producer Krista Vernoff confirmed in an interview with TVLine:
“It’s hard … and everybody has to do it, so it’s very human and very relatable. I was really interested in seeing someone as beautiful and smart and funny and complex as Meredith actually have to put herself out there … That’s what she’s doing this season, and it’s something that somehow we’ve never really seen in 15 seasons of this show!”
It ultimately feels pretty cut-and-dry why the writers would want to tell this story: It’s different, and they are embracing it as such! With this being the season of love for Grey’s Anatomy, it’s clear that the are interested in exploring as many different dimensions of romance as possible. You’ve got some more serious relationships on the show in Jo and Alex, and then also others like Owen who have some difficult questions that he will have to ask himself over time.
