Lethal Weapon season 3: Seann William Scott on following up Clayne Crawford
Regardless of the circumstances that led to Clayne Crawford’s dismissal from the show, it is fairly clear that there are fans who are going to miss him and won’t consider watching now that he’s gone. We’ve heard from many of them over the past few months and we certainly wouldn’t tell them what to watch or not watch. That’s their decision. Yet, we also do think that there’s another pool of viewers out there who are more on the fence — maybe they’re worried but will give it a chance, or maybe they don’t even know about the casting change just yet. We do think that there is a rather-large pool of people out there who don’t follow the news closely and may not even know anything about this at all.

So what is Seann William Scott thinking about the show’s future, and about trying to win over Riggs fans? It seems as though he has a pretty healthy perspective going into the new season — he’s aware that not everyone may enjoy the new version of the show, but he’s still willing to give it his best shot.
Speaking via Entertainment Weekly, here is some of what he had to say on the subject:
“I think a lot of fans may be upset they’re not going to see Riggs … I really believe they’re going to watch this and feel like we handled it in a way that is really respectful to the character and what he meant to the show.”
Based on the previews that we’ve seen, the new Lethal Weapon does seem to be as action-packed as ever, but in the process of that the producers do seem keen to lean into the comedy as much as they possibly can. That makes sense, given that they have two stars with comedic sensibilities at the top of the call sheet.
