Bull season 3 premiere forecast: Where we left off + Jason Bull’s future

Bull season 3 episode 1

Is Bull season 3 poised to be the best season that we’ve seen to date? There are certainly a number of reasons for optimism. For starters, this is the second season for Glenn Gordon Caron as showrunner, so he’s used to the series and the challenges that come along with it. To go along with that, this is also one that is coming off of a huge cliffhanger where the title character could be significantly different.

Where we left off

In the season 2 finale, everything came to a head for Michael Weatherly’s Jason Bull as the stress of his job and pressure on his life proved to be a little bit too much. He wasn’t sleeping properly, he was drinking too much, and he became obsessed with the Elliott Miles case to the point that he started to go rogue on some of the other members in TAC. He forced Benny into taking a case he wasn’t sure about, and he tried too hard to micro-manage every single aspect of the case.

In the closing minutes of the finale Dr. Bull had a heart attack as he collapsed in front of the courthouse. He was able to call 911, and while we never thought that his life was in jeopardy, it was clear that he needed to make a few changes in his life.

Where we are going

Now entering season 3 Dr. Bull has apparently decided to take better care of himself. He has gotten himself in better shape physically and he’s watching his health more — even the photo that we have above from the premiere shows that he’s taking better care of himself than we’ve seen previously.

As for whether or not he’s going to continue to allow his job to overwhelm him … well, we don’t see any huge changes there. This is still the same sort of guy who wants to take on cases help people in need; yet, one thing that we do think could be different for him is his philosophy on the job. He now realizes how short life truly is; with that, will he really be as interested in making money helping big corporations? We could easily see him fighting more for the underdog.

As for the supporting characters, Marissa is still around, but there isn’t too much else known about her story just yet. Meanwhile, Cable is gone from the team (check out more thoughts on that in our video below and subscribe for more), but there is a new character being brought on board as the tech expert.

Bull season 3 is going to premiere on CBS on Monday, September 24 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. It’s a new timeslot, but we still think that the show will be able to deliver ratings that far and away match CBS’ expectations.
