Outlander season 4: Sam Heughan teases Jamie, Claire’s story ahead
One of the latest ones this week comes via Sam Heughan and the Radio Times, who sat down with him earlier this year. They’ve been very methodical in releasing some of their footage, and the latest clip just came out on Tuesday (which we have for you to watch below).
Within this piece, which is almost entirely show-focused, Sam starts things off with a fairly basic tease of where things are going in terms of the story for Jamie and Claire moving forward:
“We ended season 3 with them washed up on the beaches of America … They’ve come to the new world and look to settle there. It’s a brave new world of immigrants and different cultures all in this melting pot … Jamie and Claire, for a time, have called somewhere it can call home. But it’s Outlander; [it] can only be comfortable for so long.”

One of the funniest parts of the interview was when Sam tried to dance around spoilers in terms of Brianna heading back to the past — something that exists within the book Drums of Autumn and seems to be very much a part of the up coming season Outlander as well, judging from a brief tease in the trailer. All Sam would say on that subject was that for Jamie “to meet his daughter would be quite the experience.” He also joked about how he would be terrified to meet Jamie as a potential father-in-law, which probably means that Roger could have a reason to shake in his boots a bit if he finds his way back to the past at some point in the series.
Overall, this is a fun little chat featuring Sam as he talks about the show in as in-depth a fashion as he possibly can. Sam is currently in South Africa working on his new film Bloodshot, where he has much darker hair and also working on a very different sort of project. He will return to film Outlander season 5 in the new year.
As always, be sure to let us know some of your thoughts on this interview and also Sam in the comments!
