Poldark season 5 filming begins: Check out the first photo!
The image below comes from the show’s official Twitter account, and it features many of the cast and crew congregated together in order to officially kick off what could be the final batch of episodes. While we certainly do think that this is a show that everyone would like to see stick around for a rather long time, we know that good things must come to an end — Poldark has brought a great deal of success to the BBC and joy to it’s viewers, but we’ve never felt much of an indication that there is a desire to continue it beyond a fifth season. If they were to do so, there would need to be an enormous time jump for many of the characters — which would, in turn, probably require many of the performers to spend a substantial amount of time in the makeup chair.
Poldark season 5 is not premiering until most likely summer 2019 at the earliest, but we’re okay with the wait given that season 4 has yet to even premiere in America. This is a series that just so happens to film a rather-long time in advance, in part likely because they want to take advantage of the great fall weather in Cornwall as long as they possibly can. With the sun setting earlier and earlier throughout the months ahead, it makes sense to take advantage of the sunlight for however long they possibly can.
If Poldark season 5 is the end of the road, hopefully it goes out with a bang (and we suspect that it will). We do certainly think that there are opportunities for some of the people behind the scenes to work together again in the future, especially as writer Debbie Horsfield is already eyeing an adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo. There’s certainly a role in there that Aidan Turner could play!
