Outlander is eligible for People’s Choice Awards … at least for one category

Outlander

How about this for some great news on Outlander this weekend? While the Starz series is apparently ineligible for a number of different categories at the People’s Choice Awards this year (thanks in part to the show not airing in this calendar year), the organization is choosing to make one exception: Bingeworthy Show of 2018.

We certainly welcome this revelation, as it is a nice alternative to being shut-out entirely. This news also helps to at least clarify one glaring issue with the original PCA ballot: Having The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in this category and not Outlander, as both of these shows were available for viewers at around the same time last year.

So, with this news in mind, fans can now vote for the show to their heart’s desire over at the link here … though it is still an arduous process. It has to be a write-in candidate, which means that it’s at a disadvantage since there is no Facebook or Twitter voting around it. There’s also another challenge in that so many of us have been under the impression that the show was not eligible over the past couple of days … which certainly makes voting all the more challenging since it’s an uphill battle.

Yet, we know that Outlander fans have taken on many uphill battles before and gotten through to the other side. We’re more than confident that it can find a way to do so once more here. The People’s Choice Awards’ preliminary voting is until September 14, and that’s a good period of time to try to overcome any disadvantage. Of course, winning this award is no guarantee that the trophy will be handed out during the November broadcast (many Outlander fans know this far too well), any victory in this category is a great one for the show. (Also, with production not underway when the show airs, we do think it’s at least possible that some of the cast would be able to attend.)

Remember that you can also vote for Sam Heughan and The Spy Who Dumped Me across some other categories — read more on that below. That movie came out this summer, and isn’t beholden to any of the same rules.
