NCIS season 16 promo highlights crisis around Leon Vance

NCIS season 16 episode 1

The first NCIS season 16 promo has been finally revealed over at CBS, and this one raises the stakes around Leon Vance.

If you remember, at the end of season 15 Rocky Carroll’s character found himself captured and his life on the line. with that in mind, it’s now going to be up to Gibbs and the remainder of the team to find him in a limited period of time. Unfortunately, Vance’s captors are extremely good at their job and also extremely capable of hiding from law enforcement. Judging from the promo, even Nick Torres is having a hard time tracking him down.

By the end of this episode, hopefully we’re going to learn about Vance’s fate one way or another, but one thing that does feel clear is that he is at least still alive during the premiere itself. Vance is a huge part of the team, and it’s with that in mind that we’d like to see him survive. We know that Gibbs is going to be filling his role in part while he’s gone, and while it could be interesting to see Mark Harmon’s character in more of a position of leadership, we won’t it to be temporary! Gibbs gets plenty of leadership moments within his typical post; he doesn’t need to be director in order to suddenly be able to do that.
