The Good Doctor season 2 spoilers: Shaun’s personal, professional struggles

The Good Doctor

While there may be some assorted victories for Shaun Murphy on The Good Doctor season 2, there are also going to be challenges.

For starters, Shaun’s going to have to deal with even more pressure at the top of the hospital. That’s what happens with Andrews at the head of the hospital. According to a report via TVLine, you are going to be seeing Andrews instilled as the new president and that’s going to prove rather challenging for Shaun. He’s not going to tolerate a lot of missteps for Freddie Highmore’s character and is going to expect him to be able to care for patients without any setbacks. It doesn’t seem like he’ll be suspended for anything that happened at the end of the season 1 finale, but there is going to be a tremendous amount of pressure on him to not make the same mistake again.

As for what else is coming for Shaun on the personal side of things, executive producer David Shore notes to the site that “there’s a lot of ups and downs between the two of them” coming up for Shaun and Lea, at least in the early going of season 2. While we welcome the news that Paige Spara is now a series regular, it looks like this is not going to immediately lead to her and Shaun getting together. We know that there are at least some feelings there, but that does not necessarily translate over to some sort of larger romantic commitment. Like any other relationship, there’s going to be some more work done, and they’ve been away from each other for a good while given that Lea moved to Pennsylvania back after the “Islands” storyline in season 1.
