Outlander not eligible for 2018 People’s Choice Awards … but why?
Apparently, the organizers of the awards show (which is now over at E!) have decided that the only shows that are eligible for the TV category this year are ones that have aired so far in the calendar year. While we understand that on some level that the organizers want this show to be a reflection of the year to date, basically shows like Outlander are now getting punished because of the fact that there was no awards show in January like there usually is. We do also wonder what happens in the future to shows that air this fall that haven’t premiered yet — will they be eligible for the 2019 show, as nobody’s really able to support them now?

Will the show be eligible for the 2019 awards show? Given that there will be some episodes that air in the calendar year regardless of how Starz chooses to schedule the series, the series is at least going to get some opportunity to shine then. Still, we do think that this could end up being rather confusing for many fans who have a series that isn’t on the shortlist of nominees and also airs across two separate years as Outlander season 4 is doing.
Remember here that this is not the first time, either, that the People’s Choice Awards have created a certain degree of chaos among Outlander supporters — after all, last year the series ended up winning a number of awards and was completely excluded during the broadcast.
If you do love Sam Heughan…
Remember that you can support him by voting for both him and The Spy Who Dumped Me. Because the movie did premiere over the summer, it is eligible for nominations. That may be a way to show Outlander a little bit of love even if you can’t do so for the series as a whole.

E can have “Their Choice Awards” without me. Outlander swept all their categories they were nominated in, in 2016 (aired in Jan 2017). It was E’s fault not to have awards for 2017, but to have 100000% overlooked the front-runner is despicable!! They never made clear the eligibility requirements from the beginning, selected their favourites randomly without any sense, rhyme or reason.Yet as how that finished in November is listed and Outlander who finished in December was not??? Double standard, and most definitely NOT the PEOPLE’s choice Awards!! Aaaaarg!! I will not be watching on November 11th !!!!

I wonder why Outlander scares them like that? Because it means tough competition???

I will be boycotting too. Seems like PCA is not really independent anymore and not really the “people’s choice.” This robs us, the fans, the ability to show love to the series that never quite makes it to the Emmys, or win the Foreign Press Awards.I’m so glad that Starz sees our value as fans and renews the show. Also the industry is recognizing Sam and Cait for their abilities by casting them in upcoming movies.

It seems to me that “the powers that be” allow certain programmes to be nominated (most likely the ones that THEY like) and ignore the rules if they don`t work in their favour !! How can you call it a year when we are (at the moment) only just in September ?!?!?! Make your mind up E! If E! don`t mind losing 1 million+ voters that would of voted for Outlander then fine.

Outlander’s season finale aired December 10, 2017, and is not eligible for nominations for People’s Choice Awards; however, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s season finale aired November 28, 2017, and is nominated. What have I missed? What I WILL miss will be the broadcast of the People’s Choice Awards because it will not really be the people’s choice. There seems to be some arbitrary interpretation of the eligibility guidelines, if there are guidelines since I cannot find them anywhere in the vast world of the internet.

Interesting to note your comment re: Mrs. Maisiel. Not really the people’s choice anymore!

I’m boycotting E, so they can just have their exclusive awards. Booooooo!
