The Good Doctor is (hopefully) not going anywhere in near future

How does The Good Doctor season 3 sound to everyone out there? To us, it sounds pretty perfect — though it’s also not guaranteed right now.

Over the course of the past few days, there was a strange rumor out there that the show could be ending, but breathe easy — it was all just a misreading of a recent preview for the show. As executive producer Sebastian Lee shows you below, the “last season” part was referring to the show’s success in season 1. If anything, this is just another reminder that the series is not going anywhere in the near future.

As with any other show, the real success of The Good Doctor is going to be measured by its performance in the ratings — which, to date, have been rather fantastic. This is a show that single-handedly lifted up a timeslot that ABC had been struggling with ever since Castle came to a close; with that in mind, there’s a lot that fans have to be happy with at the moment as season 2 is only going to continue some of the great, emotional storytelling that you had the first time around. ABC needs this show, since it provides them with not such consistent ratings, but also awards buzz thanks to Freddie Highmore’s performance as Shaun Murphy.

Easily, we can see The Good Doctor as the sort of series that goes five or six seasons, provided of course that everyone involved remains happy and engaged with some of the story that they are telling and the ratings don’t suffer some sort of sudden drop-off. Keep watching live and let’s hope for the best.
