Elementary season 6 episode 19 sneak peek: Sherlock’s frustration
What’s been going on with these two characters? This is a super-fair question to ask, largely because we haven’t actually seen Harlan on the show in some time and with that inevitably comes questions as to whether or not he and Sherlock still talk on the regular. The sneak peek below confirms that, and more so than that, shows that there is some underlying tension between between the two men.
As to where this stems from, a big part of it seems to be Sherlock’s frustration that Harlan has put himself into a rather-nasty pickle when he really didn’t need to. Apparently, he’s had an interest romantically in one of his students for some time and Holmes encouraged him to do something to figure out where he stood with her — even if it was in violation of school rules, if he wanted it bad enough. Yet, he chose instead to keep the relationship at arm’s length, which Holmes now thinks was just a way for Harlan to keep himself from being hurt by having the relationship status unknown.
The problem here now comes via the fact that Harlan is a suspect in this woman’s disappearance and he comes across looking like a creep. It’s not a great look for him with the authorities and it’s now a situation where he will probably be desperate to prove his innocence. He does have one of the best crime-solvers in the known world at his side, but Sherlock is clearly frustrated that he’s gotten roped into this at all.
