Supergirl season 4 spotlight: What should we see for Kara Danvers?

Kara -

What lies ahead for Kara Danvers on Supergirl season 4? With filming underway and the show weeks away from the premiere, it feels like the right time to ask this question! Given that this show is entitled Supergirl, obviously the Girl of Steel is going to be very involved and there are going to be plenty of action sequences. All of that feels like a given.

With that, we want to put more of the focus of this article on Kara the person more so than Kara as Supergirl. Check out some of our suggestions below, and be sure to also watch the video below for more Supergirl discussion! For more like it, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube.

As a reporter – More so than any one particular thing, we just hope we get to see more of her in this role. Reporter Kara was lost at the end of season 3 and we’d like to see her tackle the same sort of frequent struggles that any normal reporter would. That includes dealing with difficult subjects or tackling the current sentiment towards the media.

As a sister – The Danvers sisters are at the center of the show and with that, we do want to see them remain that way and be present more than ever. We do think an interesting story for them here is whether or not they think that they can handle having their very high-pressure jobs the rest of their lives. We’d like to see something akin to them finding new homes for themselves or just tackling normal, everyday problems — we’ve already seen them tackling big ones.

Romantically – If there is something that happens (we are a fan of the idea of Kara / Brainiac, especially since it’s rooted in the comics), we just hope that the emphasis here is on fun. While we don’t think this show needs a new Kara romance, if it happens we hope that it doesn’t get too weighty. What’s fun about Brainy in particular is that he’s certainly very different than she is.

More relationships – We still don’t want Kara to tell Lena her secret, mostly because we like that Lena likes Kara for Kara — also, we’re somewhat terrified of what happens if she ever learns that Kara’s been lying to her this entire team. We’re also curious to see whether or not Nia Nal, the new reporter, ends up filling a similar friendship role to what we saw with Samantha Arias last season. There can only be one Sam, but this could be a new friend who potentially doesn’t have an evil Worldkiller buried underneath.
