The Sinner season 2 episode 5 video: Tension between Heather, Ambrose

When The Sinner season 2 episode 5 airs on USA on Wednesday night, it feels fairly clear that tension will be at a boil.

Why is that? Well, a part of it is simply because we are seeing characters turn up who are acting primary for themselves rather than for the group. Technically, both Harry Ambrose and Heather Novack are collaborating in order to find out the truth about the deaths of Adam and Bess, but one of the problems that they are running into is that they have each been sidetracked. For Heather, her past history with Marin may be making it a little bit hard to be focused on anything other than this and what that means when it comes to Vera not potentially being Julian’s real mother. That could cause him to lash out, which is something that we can see him doing repeatedly given that, especially at this point, he may feel like most of his life has been built on a foundation of lies and teachings of “unlocking himself” that have caused him to not live like a real kid.

For Ambrose, meanwhile, his challenge now appears to be trying to figure out a way in which to piece together what happened to him to cause him to wake up in the hotel room. As we mention, he never should have drank anything around Vera given that she’s clearly taught Julian a thing or two about how to use local plants to cause some rather horrific side effects. While she didn’t kill Ambrose and had no intention of doing so, she obviously was out to do something — even if that something was to just create a little bit of reasonable doubt.
