Outlander notes: Sam Heughan’s journey; a little Tobias Menzies reaction

We have another edition of our CarterMatt Outlander notes for you today, though we are still in a relatively-quiet period when it comes to show news. Work is being done on season 5 in the writers room (CarterMatt co-owner Jessica Carter’s cousin is on the Outlander writing staff!), and the cast has some time off doing a few other things!

For Sam Heughan, that includes arriving to South Africa to kick off work on his new movie Bloodshot! If you’ve been following some of his Instagram Stories (highly recommended), then you will know that he is now back in Cape Town. It’s a place he’s familiar with after spending months there back in 2017 filming the end of season 3. More than likely he’s going to be spending a ton of time there over the next few weeks, though he is set to be back in America in October for New York Comic-Con. These movies roles help Outlander since it could end up exposing a whole new group of fans to the Starz drama that may not be watching. We’ll just have to wait a while in order to figure out what the impact is although it seems that Bloodshot isn’t coming out until 2020.

Also worth noting for those of you who have been following Sam’s stories — he has shown off a new photo from a Barbour campaign! This is turning out to be a great source now for Sam news, largely because it’s something fun that he can do in real-time.

A little more Tobias Menzies reaction

Earlier today, we shared the first official photo of Menzies as Prince Philip from the upcoming third season of The Crown. Now, we have some fun reaction via Caitriona Balfe! Take a look at the image below. We think that this serves as a rather-nice reminder that Tobias is well-loved by everyone who has worked with him; after all, why would they make such an active effort to support him in future projects?
