Elementary season 6: Who is Edward F. Dolan? About that title card

Elementary season 6

At the end  of tonight’s Elementary season 6 episode it featured something meaningful to the show staff: A title card for Edward F. Dolan.

So who is Dolan? For those who are wondering, he is a three-time Emmy Award winning audio engineer in the fields of radio and television. He also worked as a set dresser on various productions in New York City. While there are no specific credits listed for him On IMDb, he more than likely had a close connection either to Elementary or those who work on it. Often, the contributions of many are not completely listed on the site, and this may be another prime example of that.

One of the things that we have seen so many times over the years with scripted television crews is that they form a really tight-knit community, one that comes about through what are often long hours and a wide array of different challenges.

Dolan passed away earlier this year at the age of 60, and there are a number of lovely obituaries that you can find for him around the internet. These sort of title cards are always meant to honor someone as a reminder of not only the work that someone did, but also the impact that they had on the people involved. Other series like Grey’s Anatomy and Shadowhunters have chosen to do something similar this year and we do like to think that the title card has an impact. We know that these cards lead to questions as to who someone is, and in turn, that leads to searches online and hopefully people discovering who the person was and the impact that they had.

If you do want to read some more information about tonight’s Elementary beyond the title card at the end, you can do that by heading over to the link here. We hope the card tonight was a worthy tribute to Dolan and all who knew him. (Photo: CBS.)
