The Walking Dead season 9 adds Sons of Anarchy alum Ryan Hurst
According to a new report that is coming in via Deadline, Hurst (who is also appearing on the upcoming season of Amazon’s Bosch) is going to be playing a recurring role as Beta. This is a character who is prominent within the world of the Saviors, who the greater communities uncover over the course of this season. Their leader Alpha (Samantha Morton) can be labeled in a whole lot of ways the Big Bad moving into the season 9.
In appearing in both The Walking Dead and Sons of Anarchy, Hurst is easily establishing himself on some of the coolest shows that are out there — and this certainly does make the AMC zombie drama all the more appealing. Moving into season 9, one of the biggest challenges is simply figuring out a way in which they can continue to hold the interest of the viewers — and it hasn’t always been easy. Remember here that The Walking Dead already lost Chandler Riggs (which we are going to be forever salty about) and moving beyond that, it’s going to be losing both Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan over the course of the up coming season. We don’t necessarily get the indication that the departure of Cohan is permanent, but it is certainly something to keep in mind leading up to the premiere.

This is a show that will be changing dramatically over the coming months — Alexandria will need different leadership and many of these communities are going to have to figure out how to move forward. They are showing us that things don’t start and end just with Rick Grimes even though up until now (at least for us) this show has been primarily about him and his family.
