Does Elementary season 6 really have enough time left for Michael?
We’re excited to see the character back again. Yet, there are certainly other questions to wonder … including whether or not Michael is coming back a little bit too late. There are only a handful of episodes still to go this season and that doesn’t exactly give the writers a lot of time to set up another showdown. He is the biggest opponent that Sherlock has seen all year, mostly because he understands his addictions and who is on a psychological level. He’s also shown himself to be rather exceptional at covering his tracks and ensuring that he doesn’t get caught.
If Elementary really wants to ensure that Michael’s story is effective for the rest of the season, one of the things that they are going to need to ensure is that they feature this character both early and often in the final episodes of this episode. That means at least five or ten minutes in the next couple of episodes and then most of the final two. We do understand why it’s hard for them to really include him too much more than this, largely due to the fact that this is a procedural show. There are only so many long-term storylines you can show and we get it that there are two other big ones happening right now — Joan’s adoption and Bell’s potential departure for the US Marshals.
Yet, if the writers are going to be going big with this story, they have to find a way to do it justice and get Harrington and Jonny Lee Miller onscreen together as much as possible. Here’s to hoping that they pull it off.
