Hawaii Five-0, Magnum PI productions impacted by Hurricane Lane

Hurricane Lane is potentially set to bear down on many of the Hawaiian Islands over the next couple of days, with warnings issued for most of the state’s residents. While there are often many storms that hit Hawaii as a result of hurricanes or other tropical storms, a hurricane of this magnitude directly hitting the islands is pretty rare.

With the storm in mind, some of Hawaii’s local TV productions are doing their part in order to prepare. According to a report from Deadline, production on Magnum PI is shutting down for today and tomorrow. Meanwhile, Hawaii Five-0 will be shutting down for at least part of the day, but much of this is subject to change due to the hurricane’s ever-changing nature. It’s an evolving situation and obviously safety has to be a top priority here.

Unfortunately, this has just been an especially rough year for Hawaii in between this storm and also the volcanic activity that took place previously, but everyone seems to be preparing for it to the best of their ability. These shows still have plenty of time to work, and the best thing that everyone can do first and foremost is hunker down and make sure they are okay. There will be plenty of opportunities to be able to resume filming down the line. Even if it means delaying an episode, there are so many designated hiatus weeks during the season that adjusting the CBS schedule for them will not be all that hard.

Ultimately, don’t expect anything to change when it comes to the September 24 premiere for Magnum PI or the September 28 premiere for Hawaii Five-0. Those dates have been set in stone for a while and there’s a lot of footage already filmed. (In the case of Magnum PI, the pilot was actually filmed this past spring.)
