The Big Bang Theory season 12 officially tapes first episode

Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 19

The first episode of The Big Bang Theory season 12 is officially in the can — at least in terms of the cast filming it!

In a new post on Twitter (see below), Mayim Bialik confirmed that the first episode is done. Filming took place last night in front of a sold-out audience – which likely isn’t shocking to anyone since this is one of the most successful comedies out there. This is always one of the most in-demand sitcoms if you want to attend a taping, and the rumors about this being the final season is already adding to it.

What is going to be somewhat interesting about season 12 to us is trying to figure out where the show goes creatively with many of the stories, given that Amy and Sheldon are now married and with that, Raj is the only character on the show without a spouse at this point. Many of these characters, at least personally, now have everything that they could want. There is more professionally to seek, which is why (at least for us) we’re hoping that season 12 is going to offer some chances to get to see some career advancement (or even possible setbacks) for some of these characters.

The Big Bang Theory is going to premiere on CBS this fall, where it will air in the Thursday-night timeslot. There’s no Thursday Night Football this year on the network so it doesn’t have to change out nights like it has had to in the past. The only exception is the premiere on Monday, September 24; after that, it’ll be on Thursdays the rest of the season. Most details about the individual stories remain under wraps, but it does seem like we’re going to see Kathy Bates again as Amy’s mother.
