The Big Bang Theory season 12: Kathy Bates, Teller returning

The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 2

For anyone hoping to see more of Kathy Bates and Teller on The Big Bang Theorywe come bearing great news!

While at the official San Diego Comic-Con panel for the CBS series on Friday, the show’s writers and producers confirmed that Amy’s parents will be coming back for at least one season 12 episode after making their first appearances in the season 11 finale. (While technically Amy’s mother had appeared on the series before, it was a different actor in the role.) This should give everyone an opportunity to know these characters better, given that there wasn’t all that much of a chance to do so previously in a finale that had a lot of different things that it needed to take on in a fairly short period of time.

Also at the panel, it was revealed that you will get to meet the adult version of Tam, Sheldon’s friend from Young Sheldon. In the process of that, it does appear as though there are plans for us to actually get to know why we did not have a chance in order to meet this character previously. There was also some discussion about Sheldon and Amy being parents, which was actually hinted at by Sheldon the narrator in Young Sheldon. There’s no guarantee that this is something that will ever be addressed on The Big Bang Theory itself, but it’s something to be aware of for down the road. This was obviously a reveal that was thought out to give even more weight to the prequel series; you can even be surprised over there!

For those wondering, it is almost a tradition at this point for cast members to make surprise appearances at the panel; this time around, none other than Kunal Nayyar (Raj) and Mayim Bialik (Amy) turned up; meanwhile, Jerry O’Connell (who also appeared at the end of last season) served as the moderator.
