Making It renewed for season 2; Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman returning
Today, the network confirmed that following some great reviews (including from us at CarterMatt) and solid ratings, the crafting competition hosted by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman will be back for more. We’ve hoped that it would be for some time – if you’re not watching this show you really should be!
In a statement, NBC’s alternative programming head Paul Telegdy had the following to say:
“Seeing firsthand the imagination of a true craftsman and, literally, watching them create something out of nothing is pure gold … Amy and Nick’s longtime friendship and affection for one another brings the show to a whole other level of fun, and we look forward to seeing what Season 2 will bring.”
Meanwhile, Poehler and Offerman added the following in a statement of their own:
“We’re sew excited to be Making It again … We promise Season 2 will have you glued to your seat.”
As a longtime lover of puns, this may be one of the most fantastic statements to ever be released. For those wondering, we imagine that the second season is going to be launched at some point in 2019. Hopefully, it keeps its summer slot since this was such a nice treat during a time where new programming is really scarce.
It’s really easy to sum up the success of Making It into just one simple word: Joy. This is just a happy, joyous show about people with great talent doing great things. The contestants are celebrated rather than ridiculed, and the editors do a great job of striking the balance between fun moments with the hosts and also getting to know the contestants. We felt like this was going to be a good show from the jump, just because of the people involved. Yet, it has still found a way to exceed our expectations and after being journalists in the TV world for over a decade it’s nice to have shows that still find a way to surprise us.
