Blue Bloods season 9 filming continues; season 8 DVD released!

Blue Bloods season 9

For everyone out there who loves Blue Bloods, we’re almost a month away from the season 9 premiere! There’s a lot to like about what’s coming up this season, but while you wait there may be a new reason to go back and re-watch old episodes, as well.

Today, the season 8 DVD has officially arrived on Amazon and store shelves, and if you love Blue Bloods then you already know that it’s a must-have just for the bonus scenes and some other goodies that you’re not going to be able to get on CBS All Access or Netflix. We know that streaming services have made it so that DVD boxed sets are a little less common, but we still do think that there’s a lot of value in being able to watch something without hooking up the internet. Also, you get some extra footage that you’re not going to get virtually anywhere else.

As for why there are cut scenes in the first place, it’s mostly a matter of episode run time — there is typically around 42 minutes an episode and sometimes good scenes just get left on the cutting-room floor.

While you enjoy the DVD (if you do go that route), season 9 filming is underway! We know that Donnie Wahlberg has been on location rather frequently as of late, which should make fans of his character happy. One of the reasons why you don’t see actors like Tom Selleck or Bridget Moynihan as much during production is because their characters don’t dictate them being out in the field at much. They do venture out on occasion, but their offices are largely interior sets located at a studio.

Blue Bloods season 9 will premiere on CBS come Friday, September 28 on CBS.
