Elementary season 6 episode 19 spoilers: Rich Sommer returns!

Rich Sommer

There are some rather-exciting things about Elementary season 6 episode 19, and many of them revolve around the return of Rich Sommer. We love that the CBS series is finding some ways to bring back many of their past recurring favorites this season, and with Sommer, it’s especially exciting just because it’s been a long time since his character of Harlan Emple appeared. Think in terms of 2014 — it’s been a long four years!

Yet, what we do like about this character is that he continues a season-long trend of bringing in, smart, unusual characters for some fun storylines. Of course, it doesn’t seem like Harlan is going to be an asset for the NYPD or anyone else this time around. Instead, he is going to be a suspect! The Elementary season 6 episode 19 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below offers up some other news as to what to expect:

“The Geek Interpreter” – Holmes and Watson race to locate a missing woman when Harlan Emple (Rich Sommer), Holmes’ friend and “Irregulars” mathematics expert, becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance, on ELEMENTARY, Monday, Sept. 3 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Is it clear that this episode is following a familiar form? Sure, as we’ve seen many times now the classic “beloved good-guy character is suspected of doing bad things” setup. Yet, there is often something that is very fun about these sort of episodes since you’re forcing people outside of their typical element. Beyond just that, it’s a case that everyone can get invested in almost right away.

Of course, we are also rather curious to learn more about how Michael fits into the story, especially since at the end of Monday’s episode (you can read our full review here) it was clear that Desmond Harrington’s character was coming back after learning that Sherlock Holmes was healthy again. He didn’t want to return without a fair fight and now, he knows that he is ready.
