NCIS season 16: How to include Margo Harshman’s Delilah again

NCIS season 16 is premiering on CBS this fall, and of course, we’re hoping to get another appearance from Margo Harshman as Delilah. While nothing is necessarily guaranteed, she has become one of the most important recurring characters that the series has.

On a personal level, it’s probably pretty clear as to why the series needs to keep figuring out ways in which to bring her on board. After all, we’re talking about Timothy McGee’s wife and also the mother of his kids. Bringing Delilah on board means more family stories, and for the vantage point of McGee it is interesting that we continue to see little snapshots here and there as to what his life is like away from his team and the development of his family. It’s one thing to hear about it via dialogue, but it is a totally different thing altogether to actually see it on the show. Bringing Harshman back enables us to bring a face again to the name.

Of course, Delilah also provides a great deal of story thanks in part to her profession. She brings an important perspective to the NCIS world that you aren’t going to get from Gibbs, McGee, or anyone else. She has a unique skill set and, beyond that, can bring cases and a number of other interesting elements to the show.

We want to see Delilah back mostly so that she can offer both of these things — a personal update on McGee’s life, but then also an opportunity to collaborate with the team professionally. We want to see her working more and provided insight in that capacity; it’s also interesting when there are some conflicts between different agencies, and there could be something fascinating there given that McGee and Delilah could have to balance out their personal and professional relationships.

We know that Harshman is a versatile performer, and whether it is comedy or drama, she is going to be able to tackle whatever the producers decide to throw at her. We just how that she is now given the opportunity to do just that and a whole lot more as inch closer to season 16 premiering this fall.
