Yellowstone episode 9 (finale) preview: ‘The Unraveling, Part 2’
What’s the most effective way for Yellowstone to tell the story of the finale? Other than just giving Kevin Costner and Kelly Reilly great material, we’d advice the series to find a way to both wrap up some season 1 stories while also giving a sense as to what season 2 could be about. Even if there is some epic, jaw-dropping cliffhanger at the end of the finale, we’re not sure that the series needs it at all. All it needs is an ending that feels true for these characters and gives you a sense as to what this series is all about: Family, identity, history, and place. Yellowstone is a place rooted in deep tradition, and that often does come in conflict with an ever-changing present and people out to undercut it.
No matter what happens at the end of season 1, we imagine that the team behind the scenes will have some good ideas cooked up for season 2. The Paramount Network almost certainly has some great ideas cooked up for the future, given that Yellowstone has shown itself already to be one of its most-successful series. It has proven itself to be worthy of its investment, and we feel like, in turn, the season 1 performance is an incentive to invest even more.

I don’t think Jamie will end up talking to the reporter

Gosh, I just want the season to end with something upbeat, Episode 8 left me feeling down. Why can’t John Dutton’s boys be more loyal? Beth is still working hard to protect her father even though he said that awful thing to her last week about her mother. I think she has paid the price after all these years. Now that she is on the wagon she will even be more deadly, Dan is going down, just that will make me happy; but I don’t think the season will end happy in any way. If somebody taped Kacey beating up that guy, it will be just another “disappointment” in John’s long list. Remember we haven’t seen the environmentalists suit against him yet over the river and the fish. Rip did the right thing and he better not get busted for it. Stupid tourists. I think the fact that he saved that F&G warden will help him out though. What if the wolves eat and/or haul off the bear? There will be no evidence! Yay wolves. I hope Ryan Bingham doesn’t get on the “long black train”. Oh, somebody cure John’s cancer too, please!

I’d like to see John meet a really nice lady who could give his hectic life a bit of stability and much needed peace and….oh yeah, love/romance. And I’d sure like to see him win against at least one of his foes. He needs some positives once in awhile.
