Crime Dynamic Duos: Hawaii Five-0 (Steve / Danny) vs. Absentia (Emily / Nick)

Dynamic Duos 2

Welcome to CarterMatt’s Crime Dynamic Duos 2018! This is the third year in which we’re doing this tournament, which is a way to honor some of the best crime-solvers in all of TV. This tournament runs throughout the month of August, and over the course of it we describe what makes certain pairs the perfect crime-fighting duo while also allowing you to share some of your thoughts on the competition! Each article is accompanied with a description and a poll; the winning duo will advance to the next round leading up to the winner being announced on September 1!

What are the rules of the tournament? Basically, all eligible shows have to still be in the midst of their run on TV as of August 1, and at least one character involved needs to be involved in solving crimes in some capacity. They can be a cop, a private investigator, a federal agent, a lawyer or a high-ranking officer. What matters is that they put plenty of bad people away.

Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Voting for Round 2 is open until Sunday, August 19 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time; round 3 will kick off the following day. The image at the top of the article should explain everything.

Today, the second round is officially underway! With that, we’ve got a battle in this article between Steve / Danny of Hawaii Five-0 and Emily / Nick of Absentia. One of these pairs will move on to the final eight, and judging from the results last round, they could be formidable opponents to each other.

Steve and Danny, Hawaii Five-0 (#1 seed) – These guys are the heart and soul of the CBS show, and after cruising to a commanding victory in the first round, they’ve got more of a challenge here in round 2. Steve and Danny do enter this round with some great Crime Dynamic Duos history — they finished second in the tournament last year! We’re certainly gearing up for a big season 9 for the two of them, given that the 200th episode is coming and over the course of that episode, you could see some major movement with their restaurant — something that has been a key subplot for them for some time.

Emily and Nick, Absentia (#4 seed) – Emily and Nick, who are certainly dynamic even if they are not always the traditional duo, are new to the tournament this year after the debut of their series on Amazon earlier this year. They had a solid victory in round 1, and now they’re hoping to pull off the upset! Season 2 of the series is going to start filming soon, and while there aren’t many details out there about the story, the first season ended in a place where Emily and Nick were finally in a good place — even if they were not together romantically. Whether or not they remain on the same page moving forward, however, remains to be seen.

Your take

Let us know which duo you want to see advance in the comments below! Meanwhile, be sure to like CarterMatt on Facebook for more news regarding both of the aforementioned shows whenever you want it!

I can’t see the poll; what do I do? – If you are on mobile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click to view the non-AMP version. If that does not work, give the poll a moment to load! On some mobile browsers, it may take a moment.

How can I vote more than once? – If you are having trouble casting multiple votes, try switching your browser, your device, or visiting the page under private browsing or incognito mode. There should be many handy guides online explaining how to do so if interested.
