Grey’s Anatomy season 15 spoilers: New Meredith Grey love interest coming
If you missed it yesterday, ABC programming head Channing Dungey suggested that on season 15, Meredith is focusing mostly on her life as a mother rather than romance — which makes some sense, given that in recent interviews Ellen Pompeo had voiced a little bit of frustration over how quickly Martin Riggs was introduced after what happened to Derek.

Now show executive producer Krista Vernoff is making it a little bit clearer that eventually, you will get to see Meredith possibly find someone — though her family is also going to be a part of the focus. Speaking more via TVLine, here is what she had to say:
“Channing was keeping it mellow and trying to avoid spoilers because Shondaland is secrecy land. But as the showrunner, I can confirm for you that Meredith Grey is very much a part of our Season of Love.
“Yes, [Mer]’s a single mom, and that complicates a dating life. And yes, she’s a surgical marvel with new, game changing medical ideas she’ll be pursuing. But she also hasn’t dated at all since [Martin Henderson’s] Nathan Riggs left [in Season 13]. And the one-two punch of meeting [Scott Speedman’s] Nick Marsh awoke a desire in her that she can’t put back to sleep.”
So, even if Scott Speedman does not return as that character (who many fans want to see back on the series), I do think that there is going to be romance for Meredith elsewhere and that excites me tremendously, so long as it is the right person. I’ve always felt like love for Meredith is circumstantial and something that should come about organically due to story and natural chemistry more so than the producers thinking that it is something that Meredith necessarily needs.
