Blue Bloods season 9: Should there be an official cast photo?
While this may seem like a rather trivial request in some ways, it actually would be a rather big deal for this particular series. Despite this being one of the longer-running shows on television, for one reason or another the network has not actually put out too many cast photos for it over the years. Some of the ones that are out there are from the earlier seasons of the show, before Nicky was really even an adult and before Vanessa Ray and Marisa Ramirez were a part of the cast.
Why doesn’t CBS get on it and release a few new cast photos in some sort of official, gallery setting? Well, one of the larger reasons for that is simply that it takes time out of the production schedule. Blue Bloods is a rare show in that other than some of the family dinner scenes, it’s not all that common that you see the entire cast together in the same place. It’s a little bit more isolating in the sense that people are off doing their own storylines much of that time.
Beyond just this, networks often do not choose to do an official cast photo unless they have a significant reason to do so, and Blue Bloods really has shown itself to be a series that doesn’t need a whole lot of promotion since the viewers are a very dedicated group that are going to tune in whether there are new photos or not.
New cast photos, save for the customary episode-by-episode ones you get on a fairly regular basis, are not something that they feel a big need to put out there. At the moment, however, they clearly do not think that this is altogether necessary.
Blue Bloods season 9 premieres on CBS on Friday, September 28.
