Shadowhunters season 3 finale officially wrapped; new Seelie Queen
It’s been a long journey to get to this point, for the cast, crew, producers, and the folks behind the scenes who really work to make this series into magic. Now, the final two episodes of the season are in the can and that of course means time for all of the cast and crew to say goodbye. You can see below reactions from Katherine McNamara, Harry Shum Jr., Matt Hastings, and many other familiar faces who worked to make the show great.
While there is a sense of finality to many of these messages, we do think at the same time that there is still some hope for the future. That’s why it is so important to keep fighting and make it clear that there is still a desire to make #SaveShadowhunters into a reality. As we said both yesterday here and in the video below (subscribe to see more like it), it’s almost necessary for the cast to look at this as the end of the road so that they can feel a genuine sense of closure. If they don’t feel like the season 3 finale is the end of the road, then they may look back later thinking they didn’t get proper closure in the event that the show doesn’t come back.
Showrunner Todd Slavkin has already said that it is “unlikely” that the show finds a new home, but that is the same thing you can say for many shows that did end up airing somewhere else. The main value in continuing to fight to save Shadowhunters is that it shows to a future partner that these fans are a larger consumer base and someone who would do all they can to fight for the show and promote it.
New Seelie Queen casting
One more thing we do want to point out here is that Kimberly Sue-Murray has been brought on to play an older version of the Seelie Queen. This is the third actor to play this part after Lola Flanery and also Sarah Hyland, who probably was unable to return this time around given her Modern Family production schedule. Work recently began on that season of the series.
As always, we welcome your thoughts on all things Shadowhunters in the comments.
