Outlander season 4 first impressions: Our take on Jocasta Cameron
The character, otherwise known as Jamie’s aunt Jocasta, is a formidable force to be reckoned with in the world of the Starz series. Even though she may have a visual impairment, she still is smart, savvy, and also has been through so much in her life that she actually rivals Jamie and Claire. Her home at River Run also becomes an important part on the series, as does another character who exists there in Ulysses. These people will serve as a nice conduit to North Carolina — Jocasta in particular bridges the gap between the life that Jamie had and also the one that he has now. You’ll also meet a number of other characters through her.

Based on what we see from Jocasta in the first teaser for the season (we have that for you below), she is going to be welcoming to Jamie and Claire at River Run. That’s going to be important, given that without her, they may not able to cement themselves in nearly as effectively. The set that the show has constructed for River Run does a great job of looking like it’s North Carolina, even though it’s not. It also offer up a great sense of open space for some of these characters to explore.

Now that we’ve actually seen Jocasta, we want to get to the next order of business: Getting to the nitty-gritty and seeing how she actually interacts with Jamie and Claire. It’s one thing to see the two of them for the first time, but it’s another to actually interact with them.
