Kelsey Grammer cautious on Frasier revival despite early hype
While Grammer does seem open to it now, he is exercising as much caution as humanly possible — basically, he only wants to go through with making it in the event that they get the perfect script for it. We know that there are already meetings set to happen with possible writers, and that will be the determining factor as to whether or not the series happens. Grammer realizes at this point that Frasier Crane is the role of his career — he rocked it on Cheers, just as he also rocked it on Frasier. He’s not going to want to do this again unless he feels 100% confident that it can develop a huge audience of its own.
For a little more insight right now, take a look at what Grammer had to say (via TVLine):
“[We] have to make sure it’s going to be a great show … If it’s not a great show, and if we don’t hear a pitch that hits it out of the park, it probably won’t happen.”
It is probably best to temper expectations going into this … but we’re also very well aware that there are many talented writers in Hollywood, including some who probably grew up totally in love with Frasier. They gotta have great ideas for a new show, right?
We should also note that Grammer isn’t necessarily locked in to the show coming to NBC; Warner Bros. TV may take it elsewhere.
