America’s Got Talent: Quin & Misha vs. Courtney Hadwin, other Golden Buzzer acts
Let’s start here with what was clear to us on Tuesday night: Quin & Misha were a polarizing Golden Buzzer. We made it clear both in our article on the night and in the video below (subscribe to our You Tube for some more America’s Got Talent updates) that we didn’t feel like the ballroom duo was particularly exceptional. We don’t question their talent, but it felt like other than Quin’s age, there wasn’t anything particularly notable about the act that we haven’t seen in other acts on America’s Got Talent over the years. With that in mind, we have them in 8th place out of the eight different Golden Buzzer acts that we’ve had a chance to see on AGT over the course of this season.
For those wondering, Courtney Hadwin remains at the top of our list, with acrobatic group Zurcaroh firmly in second place. We think that Angel City Chorale is the most likely contender of the Golden Buzzer acts we’ve seen so far this season, but in all honesty, we’re not sure that we have seen a single Judge Cuts Golden Buzzer act as someone with a serious chance of actually winning the show. Maybe that changes for the final Judge Cuts show featuring Chris Hardwick, but we do recognize that the preference of the guest judge in the room may not align with much of the viewing public. There may have been something about Quin & Misha’s story in the moment that appealed to Martina McBride, and we don’t want to sit here and tell her what is right and wrong for her Golden Buzzer.
