America’s Got Talent debate: Should Angel Garcia, Jeffrey Li be wild cards?

America's Got Talent

We’ve started to get a real pulse when it comes to the America’s Got Talent results tonight, and one thing is clear: Viewers are not happy.

Do we understand some of that? Absolutely, mostly because Angel Garcia and Jeffrey Li are both good singers who had developed strong fanbases over the course of their time on the show. Yet, both were sent home while the likes of Noah Guthri, UDI Dance Group, and The Sacred Riana all advanced.

It feels like a lot of the frustration at the internet is over the boys going home over Riana, but personally, we think she should be there since her style is so unique from the vast majority of other performers in the magic space. Also, we’d argue that only 5% of the viewership is aware that Asia’s Got Talent is a show, let alone that she was a part of it. We would’ve picked Angel or Jeffrey over one of the dance groups; if we could trade one of them in for some advancing acts from some other shows this season, we certainly would do that as well.

If you do love one of these two singers and are holding out hope that they could return, know this: There are only 28 acts who will be in the live shows on the other side of this, and we imagine that there are going to be at least two more to bring the total up to 30. We could easily somebody come back as wild cards, though they could have competition in that space via some other great acts we’ve seen go home. (We should note that wild cards are not confirmed, but it feels logical to assume that one will be appearing.
