Could NCIS season 16 wait on a time jump for a while?

season 16 is set to premiere this fall, and one of the things that we’re going to see from the get-go is an epic quest to say Leon Vance. There’s not going to be any sort of big time jump before getting resolution on this season — basically, don’t expect things to be similar to what they were like in the season 15 premiere.

On the other side of the Vance story (which we discuss in the video below — be sure to subscribe to get some other discussions quite like it!), should CBS hurry along the time jump? We understand what the reasoning for it will be: This is a show that likes to operate in real time and because of that, they are probably going to bring that to you sooner rather than later.

Yet, we do still think it could be rather interesting to see NCIS actually linger a little bit on the aftermath of the kidnapping, including giving us a chance to see how he and Jack Sloane specifically recovered from some of what they went through at the end of this past season. We know that come a four-month time jump they’ll be doing a little better and we want to get some great performances from the likes of Rocky Carroll and Maria Bello. If we had it our way, we’d probably spend the first three or four episodes of the season with these characters in the summer, dealing with the recovery and actually getting to see a time of year rarely ever highlighted on NCIS.

It’s too bad we don’t genuinely believe that this is going to happen and instead, the more likely scenario here is that we’ll jump forward as early as the premiere on the other side of the rescue. NCIS is a show about a routine and while we get that, it would nice to see some sort of shake-up here and there.
