Save Shadowhunters update: Billboards officially arrive on London buses

Shadowhunters season 3 cast

How about this as a pleasant surprise for many Shadowhunters fans this morning? Earlier this weekend it seemed as though the London bus movement was not going to kick off until Thursday. Yet, this morning proof first emerged that the advertisements are officially out there and moving about the city.

The video below (via @descent_is) gives you a pretty clear representation of what the ads look like, with a performance of the show’s theme song for added effect. It’s a pretty cool moment in the midst of many very cool moments for fans that we’ve had a chance to see. Just think about the achievements that have been wrought by this campaign so far — we’re talking about an airplane flyover, a billboard in Times Square, and all different kinds of support in such other international cities as Seoul, South Korea and Toronto, Canada. (Read more about the Toronto campaign here.) This is a movement that has now spread across multiple continents and united fans in a way that you rarely see.

Now, we just have to hope that there is going to be some sort of reward for all of the effort and publicity generated by the viewers. We certainly do think that the Timeless movie announcement yesterday can be seen as yet another positive sign that networks do listen to campaigns. That came about after a number of different fan campaigns; because of them, Timeless fans are going to have some closure that they did not have previously. This should be a sign for Shadowhunters viewers to keep fighting in the hopes of achieving some sort of big result of their own. What was so impressive about Timeless was that fans were able to achieve this sort of result even though the contracts for all of the cast members had already expired. Consider this a reminder that anything is possible.

While it is true that the two-part Shadowhunters season finale, which was ordered alongside Freeform’s cancellation announcement, is meant to offer some closure much in the way that the Timeless movie will on NBC, executive producer Todd Slavkin has already noted that he is planning to leave some room open for a possible season 4 in the event that the show is saved.

For now, take another bow Shadowhunters fandom. It is pretty clear that you deserve it.

As always, we welcome your thoughts on this particular achievement below!
