Grey’s Anatomy season 15 filming: See Ellen Pompeo, more in Seattle!
We’ve got a series of additional images below via the Twitter page of one executive producer Debbie Allen, and they feature the likes of Pompeo (Meredith), Caterina Scorsone (Amelia), Giacomo Gianniotti (DeLuca), Chandra Wilson (Miranda), and more in the Emerald City. The series spent much of the past week in Seattle for one primary reason: authenticity. They want to create the feeling that these characters do actually live and work there, so the cast and crew are willing to go the extra mile in order to make that happen.
In some ways, you would think that it was a given that a show would want to go on-location for as many exterior scenes as possible. Yet, it actually doesn’t happen with many other shows on the air. The reason that it does with Grey’s Anatomy is because it’s got the room in the budget to make this happen, and it’s also mapped out in a way that the producers know they are going to be able to use some of this footage for several episodes. They can get a lot of their exterior work done in one trip.
All of this work is done in preparing of the show’s upcoming premiere on Thursday, September 27, which is going to air over the course of two hours! Like many other Grey’s Anatomy premieres that we’ve seen over the years, ABC wants to get you immersed into the story as soon as humanly possible. These Seattle scenes do not offer too much in the way of spoilers for what’s coming up, but we do think that they give you a reason to be excited. Any chance to see the cast out and about is particularly special.
