The Flash season 5 spoilers: The King Shark – Gorilla Grodd dream
Speaking via Cinema Blend, show executive producer Todd Helbing had the following to say about teaming the two up, and also the fairly-obvious reason why it hasn’t happened already:
We’ve been trying to do this for a long time and we just run out of money, to be honest. But we’re gonna really try to get King Shark and Grodd to do a little [together]. Probably the second half, if we have money.
One of the things that we’ve seen with the Arrowverse over the years is that these shows do a really impressive job with CGI work, given the budget. We’ve seen that already with their King Shark build, which looks significantly better than we ever imagined that it would. Yet, the trade-off with that is that there is only so much of these characters you can include. That is why we previously found the two-part Grodd episode in season 3 to be a little bit of a disappointment, mostly because you were dealing with a character who could not actually appear on the screen all that much.
If the producers are able to accumulate enough cash to do a Grodd – King Shark episode where they can feature them for a good ten or fifteen minutes, we’re all for it. We’re also all about it if we are able to see the two collaborate for a mission. If that doesn’t happen, however, it may just be better off for them to just focus on some other things; it really feels like this is best suited to be an all-or-nothing sort of deal since you don’t want to deliver something that feels incomplete.
