Cable Ratings: Sharp Objects, Power season 5, and The Affair season 4
Before going too much deeper within this feature, let’s begin with this disclaimer: All the numbers listed are live+same-day; we recognize that there are some other measurements for viewership out there, but this is the universal standard for most shows.
Sharp Objects – The third episode of the Amy Adams limited series drew around 1.03 million viewers, which marks the third straight week in which we have seen some sort of decline here. The show’s performance may be trickling down, but we don’t necessarily see that as a bad thing. It may just mean that more viewers are shifting over here to watching via HBO NOW or an app down the road. The real concern here could come within a few weeks, if the live numbers don’t improve near the end of the season. That is where there should be a sense of real urgency for most viewers out there to check out the series and bump those numbers up!
Power – The Starz series, meanwhile, continues to be a little bit up and down. This past episode, for example, drew 1.36 million viewers, down slightly versus the week before, but still an improvement from the second episode of the season. Given that this series is technically renewed already for an additional season, in theory there shouldn’t be anywhere near as much to worry about.
The Affair – Finally, let’s turn now to the Showtime drama, which managed to secure in total 480,000. While the ratings remain really down versus the polarizing third season, we’re mostly just hoping at this point that there are some viewers who will come back to the show via some of the great word-of-mouth about this season which is really good!
